Cold brew season is officially here—and while most people think you need fancy gear or huge jugs in the fridge to make it, the truth is you can brew an amazing cold coffee at home using one of the most underrated tools out there: the AeroPress.
Compact, mess-free, and incredibly versatile, the AeroPress isn’t just great for hot coffee. With a couple of simple tweaks, it can make a beautifully smooth, refreshing cold brew—especially when paired with the right beans.
For this recipe, we’re using Jungle Breeze, our light roast single origin from Honduras. It’s soft, sweet, and chocolatey, with just enough acidity to keep things vibrant and balanced. Basically, it’s made for warm weather sipping.
Why Use an AeroPress for Cold Brew?
Cold brew made in an AeroPress isn’t technically the slow-steeped, overnight version you’re used to—it’s more of a “flash-brewed” iced coffee method that gives you the body and smoothness of cold brew without the 12-hour wait.
It’s perfect if you want that cold brew flavour but don’t want to plan your life around it. And thanks to the AeroPress’s pressure-based design, you can extract bold flavour quickly, with a surprisingly clean finish.
What You’ll Need:
-
15g of good quality coffee (medium to coarse grind—think sea salt)
-
90ml of cold or room-temperature filtered water
-
AeroPress (inverted method)
-
Plunger and filter cap
-
Paper filter
-
Ice
-
Optional: splash of cream, milk or syrup
Step-by-Step Cold Brew with AeroPress (Inverted Method)
1. Set up your AeroPress inverted
Turn it upside down with the plunger inserted just past the "4" mark to avoid spillages.
2. Add your coffee
Add your 15g of freshly ground coffee, Jungle Breeze is a great option. Use a funnel if needed—no one likes losing precious coffee down the sides.
3. Add cold or room-temp water
Pour in 90ml of cold or room-temp filtered water. Stir gently for about 15–20 seconds to saturate all the grounds.
4. Let it steep
Pop a filter into the cap, rinse it with water, then screw the cap onto the top of your AeroPress. Let the coffee steep for 2 minutes.
5. Press
Carefully flip the AeroPress over your cup or jug and press down slowly. It should take about 30 seconds to fully plunge.
6. Serve over ice
Pour the concentrate over a glass full of ice. You can dilute it with a bit of cold water if you prefer it lighter, or top it with milk or oat milk for a creamier finish and syrup for a delightful sweet drink that would rival the chain stores.
Why Jungle Breeze Works So Well
Jungle Breeze is a light roast with soft chocolate and nutty flavours, balanced with mild acidity. That means you get all the richness and sweetness you want in a cold brew, without it tasting too bold or bitter when served cold. It’s easygoing, clean, and super refreshing on hot days.
Plus, it’s Bird Friendly, Organic, and Fairtrade certified, so your summer brews support real farms, forests, and the birds that live there—including the Scarlet Macaws that inspired this roast.
Final Thoughts
Cold brew doesn’t need to be complicated. With an AeroPress and the right coffee, you can whip up a refreshing glass in minutes. Try it with Jungle Breeze, and thank us later.
